* Another farming title from TheBroth, Barn Buddy made an impressive leap from #18 to #11 with nearly 5 million MAUs this month.

Deleting System Softwares:

XP hides some system software you might want to remove, such as Windows Messenger, but you can tickle it and make it disgorge everything. Using Notepad or Edit, edit the text file /windows/inf/ sysoc.inf, search for the word 'hide' and remove it. You can then go to the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select Add/Remove Windows Components and there will be your prey, exposed and vulnerable.

Creating Shutdown Icon or One cl!ck Shutdown:

Navigate to your desktop. On the desktop, right-cl!ck and go to New, then to Shortcut (in other words, create a new shortcut). You should now see a pop-up window instructing you to enter a command line path.
Use this path in "Type Location of the Item"
SHUTDOWN -s -t 01
If the C: drive is not your local hard drive, then replace "C" with the correct letter of the hard drive. cl!ck the "Next" button. Name the shortcut and cl!ck the "Finish" button. Now whenever you want to shut down, just cl!ck on this shortcut and you're done.

cl!ck Start then Run and type " gpedit.msc" without quotes.This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:
Local Computer Policy then Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth.
Double cl!ck on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.

Renaming The Recycle Bin icon:

To change the name of the Recycle Bin desktop icon, cl!ck Start then goto Run, write Regedit and press Enter. It opens Registry Editor. Now in Registry Editor go to:

and change the name "Recycle Bin" to whatever you want (don't type any quotes).

Managing Tasks:
You can at last get rid of tasks on the computer from the command line by using 'taskkill /pid' and the task number, or just 'tskill' and the process number. Find that out by typing 'tasklist', which will also tell you a lot about what's going on in your system.

Improving the Slow Boot up time:

There are a variety of reasons why your windows XP system would boot slowly. Most of the times it this has to do with the startup applications. If you would like to speed up the bootup sequence, consider removing some of the startup applications that you do not need. Easiest way to remove startup apps is through System Configuration Utility. Go to Start then Run and enter MSCONFIG and go to the Startup tab. Deselect/UnCheck application( s) that you do not want to startup at boot time.

Open My Computer Double-cl!ck the drive where Windows is installed (usually drive (C, unless you have more than one drive on your computer). If the contents of the drive are hidden, under System Tasks, cl!ck Show the contents of this drive.
Double-cl!ck the Documents and Settings folder. Double-cl!ck your user folder. Right-cl!ck any folder in your user profile, and then cl!ck Properties. On the Sharing tab, select the Make this folder private so that only I have access to it check box.

Customize Internet Explorer's Title Bar:
Open Registry by going to Start then Run and Enter regedit. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_ USER\Software\ Microsoft\ Internet. Explorer\Main. In right hand panel look for string "Window Title" and change its value to whatever custom text you want to see.

Disabling the use of Win Key:
If your are a gaming freak then you must be sick of the Win key in your keyboard. To disable use of Win key, open registry by going to Start then Run and entering regedit. Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_ MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSe t\Control\ Keyboard Layout] . In this look for value of "Scancode Map". Its binary data so be extra careful:
Set its value to "00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 00 00 5B E0 00 00 5C E0 00 00 00 00" to disable the win key.

Restarting Windows without Restarting the Computer:
This one is again is. When you cl!ck on the SHUTDOWN button, make sure to simultaneous press SHIFT Button. If you hold the Shift key down while *** on SHUTDOWN button, you computer would restart without restarting the Computer. This is equivalent to term "HOT REBOOT".

Stopping XP from displaying unread messages count on Welcome Screen:
To stop XP from displaying count of unread messages, Open registry and navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_ USER\Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentV ersion\UnreadMai l] and look for the data key "MessageExpiryDays" . If you do not see this key, create one DWORD key by the name "MessageExpiryDays" . Setting its value to 0 would stop Windows XP from displaying the count of unread messages.

Modify Color Selection of Default Theme:
Open registry by going to Start then Run. Entering regedit, navigate to [HKEY_USERS\ .DEFAULT\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentV ersion\ThemeMana ger] and locate the key "ColorName".
Right cl!ck on it and select modify its value from "NormalColor" to "Metallic"
cl!ck Ok, and exit regedit and restart your computer.

Removing the Recycle Bin from the Desktop:

Send Out Executable Files Via Gmail

As a security measure to prevent the intrusion of potential viruses, Gmail strictly disallows users to send and receive executable files (files with the extension ".exe", ".dll", ".ocx" or ".bat") in its policy. If you try to send these files, Gmail will send you an error message: "This is an executable file. For security reasons, Gmail does not allow you to send this type of file." You might try to zip or compress the files into other formats such as ".zip", ".tar", ".tgz", ".taz", ".z" or ".gz". However, your Gmail account will bounce back your message. How to send executable files with your Gmail account if you really need to do so?

Of course the easiest way is to use other email services such as Yahoo to send your important executable files. However, if you are still set on using Gmail to send your executable files, there are a few ways you can try: -

1. You can rename your executable files from the "exe" extension to other formats such as "doc", "jpeg", etc. For instance, your file name is happy.exe; just rename your file to happy.doc and send it over to the receivers. Once the receivers have received the files, they just need to change the extension back to the original file extension.

2. The other way you can try is upload your executable files to some free file hosting service such as DivShare or Rapidshare. Copy down the link and send it to the receivers. It's pretty straightforward.

3. The last option you can try is to compress your executable file by using Winrar. Gmails doesn't scan files in the RAR format. You can send the file out without a problem. However, you must make sure your receivers can open the RAR files

What's the best way to drive fans away from a beloved franchise? Simple: follow it up with two horrendously misjudged sequels, eschewing the charms of the original in favour of boardroom-decreed, focus-tested drivel. So, as Ubisoft, what's the best way to win those fans back? Easy – you make this game.

It's not often you splurge out the positives at the top of a review but, quite simply, this newest Prince of Persia gets so much absolutely right and so little even remotely wrong, it would be doing a disservice not to start reeling them off now. If we're lucky, we might even have gotten all the good stuff out the way by the end of the review. Where to start though? Well, probably in the series' most obvious upgrade.

Put simply, Prince of Persia is a visual tour de force and just the very tip of what makes the game such a gloriously refreshing experience. From its fluid animation to diverse, sprawling environments, Prince of Persia absolutely revels in attention to detail – and its hand-drawn, watercolour art style ties it all into a single, beautifully cohesive package. Admittedly, that's not immediately obvious and, initially, you're enveloped in a relentlessly bleak, barren world. Of course, your ultimate task is to banish Ahriman, god of all that is evil, and restore peace by locating the game's 25-odd Fertile Grounds, staunchly protected by his four most loyal followers.

As you gradually reclaim the land, Ubisoft's artists go haywire with the colour palette and the result is one of the most radiant, sumptuous and satisfying game world's we've seen. From bright blue skies, rolling green fields, waterfalls, rainbows and windmills to shimmering moonlit temples, floating in an endless sea of mist – it's consistently arresting, lying somewhere between the relentless imagination of Studio Ghibli and the sturdy design ethic of Disney. It's perfectly complemented by the game's orchestral score too, effortlessly segueing from oppressive to whimsical, downbeat to triumphant.

It's an incredibly enchanting package - and that's true of the underlying game too. Welcoming from the off, with a carefully judged introductory tutorial, it remains accommodating throughout. Prince of Persia is a game that wants to be played and it goes out of its way to make sure you want to play it back. It's evident in the user-configured compass system, ensuring you always know where you're going, and in tiny visual cues that warn of oncoming danger. Most significantly though, there's the simple fact that it's impossible to die - fall off a ledge and magical sidekick Elika plonks you back on the nearest flat surface; get struck down in battle and you're instantly resurrected.

Undoubtedly, the focus in this franchise reboot is on delivering a relentless adrenaline rush of a title. It's still unashamedly a platform game though – and the series' trademark physics-defying acrobatics are back with aplomb, albeit in their most giddyingly fluid, dynamic form yet. The biggest change from its predecessors, and the one that might irk traditionalists most, however is a reduced focus on path-finding and puzzle-solving – with routes around the game world entirely linear in isolation and clearly telegraphed. Instead, Prince of Persia features a design that facilitates quick thinking and lightning responses – to the point where the whole observation, assessment and reaction pattern is more akin to a rhythm action title than a platform game. It's literally possible to dash from one side of each vast area to the other in one seamless combo run - and it's a thoroughly exhilarating experience.

A similar ethos is tied to the fighting system and – finally – the series has combat to match the quality of its platform mechanics. Rather than trite button-mashing, battles focus on observation and reaction, proving to be both considered and rewarding. With four basic moves at your disposal – magic, attack, acrobatic and gauntlet – it's possible to string vast combos together, provided you get your timing right. It's a deep system, with countless possible permutations of attack, and encourages experimentation. It's immensely satisfying piecing together your own combos - for instance, thrashing a third off your opponent's health with a debilitating magic attack, followed by an acrobatic leap, quick slash, air jump and a final one-two blow. It's quite a crowd-pleaser too, with well-integrated quick-time sequences used to add a visually arresting cinematic edge to battles, plus environmental hazards enable you to vary your attack strategy. What's more, boss battles aside, combat is an optional affair – quickly reach a spawning opponent and a swift sword slash nullifies the entire battle. It's yet another glorious nod to user choice in the way you approach the game and is utterly laudable.

It's in the integration of these two core game mechanics that Prince of Persia really succeeds. It's carefully balanced, ensuring the pace never flags, with just enough combat to break up those platform elements. What's more, there's always the promise of something new around the corner - whether that be the handful of more cerebral puzzles, show-stopping set-pieces or constantly engaging environmental design. Even orb-collecting, required to unlock advanced abilities and open up new routes for exploration, skillfully avoids descending into obnoxious padding - instead, offering incentive to experiment with your acrobatic arsenal and explore the game's meticulously-designed worlds once you've cleansed an area, all at a far more relaxed pace.

Undoubtedly, the series has moved on and it's all the better for it. However, there's one area where this new entry borrows wholesale from its most illustrious predecessor and it's a welcome bit of pilfering too. Before the anger and angst of Warrior Within and Two Thrones, Sands of Time offered up one of gaming's most charming double acts in the form of the Prince and feisty sidekick Farah. It's a template that this latest Prince of Persia holds dear and new Prince and Elika are really what give the game heart. From the excellent writing and voice acting to genuinely touching animation as the duo graciously shuffle around each other during more elaborate acrobatic moments, they're both infused with genuine, likeable personalities, doing the mating dance with dry wit and irresistible sardonic charm. It's a relationship that really moves the game forward - far overshadowing the otherwise generic apocalyptic threat – and escalates an already excellent title to new heights.

Of course, it's not all perfect and Prince of Persia does come complete with a few niggles. Some people are bound to hate the incredibly forgiving nature of the game – and it's true that there's no tangible sense of challenge and, arguably, achievement as a result. Undoubtedly, the fun is inherent in the game's relentlessly joyous moment-by-moment experience rather any notion of ultimate victory. To be honest though, when you consider that

has delivered a game that's consistently exhilarating and entertaining for its entire 12-hour run, it's a fairly moot criticism.

At a more fundamental level, there are minor quirks which occasionally annoy. For instance, the way the game stacks input commands then reacts once an initial animation is complete occasionally leads to your unintended demise – the only taint in an otherwise robust, fluid control system. Then there are Elika's magical upgrades – required to access new areas of the game world. Two, in particular, suffer from a thoroughly impractical viewpoint – absolutely the only time the camera system is ever less-than-perfect. Simply, you're not afforded a wide enough view to see up ahead and too often you'll charge headlong into an unseen object, being teleported right back to the beginning of a sequence. That wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that the game has a nasty habit of presenting these in lengthy segments, generally with no mid-point save. It's frustrating, being forced to redo the same long sections again and again while you doggedly memorise the route ahead. Thankfully though, it's an issue that raises its head in only a handful of areas throughout the game.

Closing Comments
Ultimately, the only thing holding Prince of Persia back from absolute greatness is its very traditional core. Unlike this season’s heaviest hitters, it doesn’t seek to redefine anyone's notion of gaming, it simply wants to be fun - and there's something reassuringly familiar about the overall experience. However, that doesn’t detract from the simple fact that Ubisoft has delivered an incredibly polished, tremendously enjoyable and utterly lovable experience here. It takes all the best elements of previous franchise entries then expands and refines them to create an absolutely unforgettable adventure. It’s magical in every sense of the word and, after all those years in the wilderness, it’s good to have the old Prince back.

Call of Duty: World at War is a lot like its predecessor, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In most respects, this is a good thing. The guns are tightly tuned, the tone is gritty and mature, and the action is exciting and fast-paced. It boasts the same addictive multiplayer system as Modern Warfare, and even expands the multiplayer possibilities by allowing four players to play through the campaign cooperatively. Like every game in the series before Modern Warfare, this Call of Duty takes place during World War II. World at War does an admirable job of spicing things up, but between the well-worn source material and déjà vu game mechanics, there is a pervasive familiarity to the game. Still, though World at War lacks the freshness that made Modern Warfare such a hit, it nevertheless provides a hearty, filling meal--one that shooter fans are sure to savor.

The action is as explosive as ever.

The most salient difference between World at War and Modern Warfare is the WWII setting. In the campaign, you split time between two soldiers in two offensive theaters: the Russian push out of their homeland and into the heart of Germany, and the American struggle to wrest Pacific islands from the Japanese. Though you'll alternate between them every few levels, the campaign feels like one solid progression, thanks to the adept pacing.

Each soldier's journey begins at a low point. Weaponless and surrounded by the enemy, you get a taste of the despair many soldiers are never rescued from. Though the emotional tone eventually rises toward triumph, you never quite forget the fate you nearly met. The first few levels are a hard scrabble as you and your fellow soldiers try to gain a foothold for your country, while later levels are suffused with a sense of hard-won momentum as you fight bigger battles and push closer to your enemies' capitals. Throughout each level you are accompanied by a superior officer who sets the emotional tone through well-acted dialogue. The vengeful, spitfire Russian pumps up your adrenaline to intoxicating levels, while the grim, determined American provides a sobering influence. This grim sobriety is further enforced by the actual WWII videos, photos, and statistics presented in stylish interchapter cutscenes. The message is, by nature, a conflicted one: Though you may feel like an action hero, you are actually participating in the most horrid of human endeavors. How you ultimately feel about this message will depend on your personal disposition, but suffice to say that the elevated emotional timbre makes for an exciting campaign.

Also exciting? Bayonets and flamethrowers, the two standout new weapons in World at War. You wield both in the American campaign, using them to enthusiastically dispatch enemies in trenches and fend off the aggressive banzai raiders. These raiders snipe from the treetops, or pop out of holes and charge you with merciless determination; this aggression makes the American campaign feel uniquely tense. The Russian campaign is slightly more predictable, but it remains vigorous throughout and ends in a spectacularly satisfying way. Explosions and gunfire will cause enemies to lose limbs and copious amounts of blood, making World at War a sight more violent than Modern Warfare. Still, in between the burning, stabbing, and gibbing, there is a lot of crouching behind cover and picking off enemies with your trusty rifle. This kind of action, and most of the other weapons, will feel familiar to anyone who has played a World War II shooter before. It's a well-tuned and exciting familiarity, but it doesn't make any notable leaps.

World at War does make a leap for the Call of Duty series by offering two-player split-screen and four-player online cooperative campaign play. It's the same campaign as the single-player experience, though the number of enemies increases for every player that joins you. You can turn competitive scoring on and see who can earn the most points by killing enemies or reviving teammates, and this adds a bit of fun to the campaign and lightens to mood (it's hard to feel grim when there are point values popping up all the time). There are also special items called death cards in each level, and collecting these will allow you to enable a cheat for cooperative play (for instance, enemies die by headshots only or headshots cause enemies to explode). These add a little more spice to the pot, but the only tangible incentives are challenges. Completing these tasks (such as kill 100 enemies with pistols or take first 20 times in competitive co-op) will earn you experience points that go toward your multiplayer rank (co-op is not similarly ranked). Cooperative play is fun in its own right, but linking it to the addictive multiplayer ranking system makes it relevant in a whole different way.

Multiplayer battles are as fast and deadly as ever.

In case you missed it last year, the multiplayer system introduced in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is fantastic, and World at War has updated it to fit its WWII setting. The hook is experience points, which you gain by winning matches or completing one of the aforementioned challenges. As you earn these points, you'll rank up and earn access to new weapons, new accessories (like sights and suppressors), and new perks. Perks are special abilities that grant you a wide variety of bonuses, but you can only choose four (one of which is vehicle-specific). This introduces an engaging element of customization: Will you choose to toughen up by increasing your health and bullet damage, or will you go the stealth route and increase your sprint speed while becoming invisible to enemy recon planes? Perks are well balanced, and you have multiple save slots, which enable you to easily switch between your various pretweaked loadouts. This allows you to take full advantage of this deep, engaging system that is just as great this year as it was last year, albeit slightly less novel.

There are, of course, new maps, and the bonuses you earn for kill streaks have been updated (notably, the attack helicopter you earned after seven kills in Modern Warfare is now a pack of nasty attack dogs). There are also a few maps that support tanks, powerful additions that mix things up without being too dominant. Most of the modes remain the same, though some have received slight tweaks and Capture the Flag has returned after a hiatus from Modern Warfare. The most striking new mode is actually a cooperative game called Nazi Zombies, playable when you beat the campaign (or play with someone who has). This absurd game puts up to four players in a house that is being assaulted by the undead. Killing the fiends and repairing the barricades earns you points that you then spend to replenish ammunition, buy new guns, and unlock new areas of the house. Each subsequent wave brings tougher, faster, more numerous enemies, and the game inevitably ends in grisly death. Though the random weapon box, assorted power-ups, and skills of your teammates add some variation, each play-through is similar to the last. Still, it makes for some intense, frantic fun and provides a welcome, if slightly bizarre, change of pace.

By staying largely true to the formula that made Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare so successful, Call of Duty: World at War has ensured a proven level of technical quality, particularly in the multiplayer arena. On the other hand, one of Modern Warfare's strengths was its fresh approach, and by embracing a familiar setting and familiar mechanics, World at War achieves greatness but falls short of excellence. This is only a bad thing if you are expecting this game to top its benchmark predecessor. If, however, you are hoping for an exciting campaign, fun cooperative play, and engaging multiplayer action, then you'll find a lot to be happy about in World at War.
